Deep Breath

Here is the day - the day that, per schedule, birth mom and birth dad are surrendering their rights and we are signing for the rights of Logan.

We got to the hospital early - and as we were driving into the parking lot we said ... ok - let's play 'worst case scenario' (we have stolen this from This is Us - Randall and Beth's relationship).... so we did. Worst case scenario- birth parents do not sign the papers and are not moving forward with adoption. We decided if this were to occur - we would say goodbye to Logan and head to O'Hare and catch the first flight out we could. It is always good to have a plan... or so 'they' say.

We spent the morning with PT and Speech - learning all things Logan. We learned how to do modified tummy time, have her practice sitting up, moving and loosening her muscles... and of course practice feeding her that 15 mL if she is interested. We got more practice with the g-tube feedings - becoming more and more independent with the nursing staff supporting us along the way.

Birth mom texted that they were signing and that dang social worker (from the agency, not the hospital) has errors in the paperwork that they had to correct with a pen during the signing. Birth mom advised us to have our lawyer look over the paperwork a lot and gave us a heads up as that social worker was headed to the hospital for us to sign next. The hospital social worker, Tracy (an amazing human!), was with us the entire time when the agency's social worker was with us to ensure all went smoothly. Here is an example - the agency's social worker asked us to sign that we received some paperwork she still had to make copies of, therefore was not providing us at that time... ummmm - no- asked her to go back to her car and get those documents and copies were made at the hospital so we could sign that we, in fact had received them (geez!).

So - there we were - we signed the papers saying that we are seeking adoption of Logan Reilly Leona Jablonski (wow, this is happening!). Wow! We finished signing and made our way back to Logan to let her know (I mean she should know, right?). We held her and told her how much her birth family loves her. We held her and her and told her how much we love her - and that she has a wide net of people in her life that will continue to be right with her in this life!

We were her moms! I am a first time mom. I love being a step mom to Parker and Carson, and well, this.... this just adds even more to our family.

We left the hospital around 7pm in search of food- which we found at the Lazy Dog. I told anyone I could at the bar that I am a mom and we are adopting an amazing little tiny human. I am a mom! We are Logan's moms!

We checked into our new hotel - holiday inn express - and fell asleep filled with so much humbled joy.

We made plans with birth mom to meet up the next day (Saturday) to get some more breast milk and get a drink / food together as well.
