So. Much. Progress.

Today is Wednesday - that means we just met Logan for the first time a week ago - 7 days ago. We have held her for 1 week .... we have had a crash course in caring for her and learning the legal system.

Today Logan had Speech and OT (in addition to the routine checkins from the amazing nursing staff).... both professionals are so impressed with how much more alert Logan is- her eyes are tracking more and.... well she is more engaged with the conversations around her. She continues to recognize our voices and snuggles into us when we hold her - like nuzzles in hard - such a difference from a week ago!

Speech today - Logan is offered 15 mL of oral feeding to continue to build positive feeding experiences (she gets the rest her actual nourishment via g-tube).... today Logan showed us that she wanted to eat sitting up rather than on her positioned side. Logan's communication (and our learning to listen to her) continues to grow- she did so great and had all 15 mL via bottle at her 11am feeding. So amazing. The speech therapist continued to coach us on learning Logan's cues and how we can use her cues to adjust our holding of her. We are learning to read Logan's body language - and wow - it is powerful to empower Logan to tell us what she needs to be ok.

OT today.... we saw this therapist a week ago- our first day meeting Logan... and if you remember that entry - we were just a tad bit overwhelmed (insert a picture of a tidal wave here). This therapist was so impressed with how alert and engaged Logan was - how much her muscle tone has relaxed and just how more at ease she is in general. Logan loved her infant massage from OT today (I mean, I kind of wanted that same massage and asked Bryson to take notes... for Logan of course)- we are learning how important positive touch is for development in so many realms of life.

Then, what else today.... oh yes- the updates from the social and case manager... when will Logan show up on my insurance because that triggers the g-tube supply delivery (oh and the slight issue with formula shortage - that stressor is real!). I can't say this enough- this staff - all around is amazing here... we had the same nurse we had yesterday and since she has a tubie kiddo she is giving us all the helpful hints- the things moms know- this intentional pairing of her being our nurse has been such a gift.

What was really fun.... Logan pooped on Bryson- I just had to add that in because it is funny :) I know i am up soon for that- but it was not me first!

Logan loves her pacifier and loves being sung to. This kid just loves to be talked with- and- we are focusing on complex sentences and vocabulary to continue to build that brain!

We may / may not be leaving tomorrow .... could be discharged, may not be discharged. We may be able to leave the state / we may not be able to leave the state... so that is where we are. We are going to check out of our hotel tomorrow just in case we are able to leave ..... the we may be checking back in or leaving to head to the boarder of the state.... or to the airport. We are just going along with each part of each day as we navigate our new reality.

In all of this.... Logan looking at us, engaging in our eye gazes, wrapping her little hand around our fingers.... it all is, well, amazing. Little tiny humans are amazing.
